Project Description

Water Sports

Highwind Lake is the perfect space for a wide variety of water sports.  Our guests utilize the lake for activities such as boating, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and water skiing.  Hit the water, and explore what Highwind Lake and the other lakes in the area have to offer. Bring your own boat and experience excellent fishing, tubing, and water skiing! If you have the equipment and feel up to the challenge check out the ski course (when available).

Don’t have a fishing boat or canoe? We have you covered. Highwind Lake Camp offers canoe and boat rentals for those who wish to hit the water! A leisurely sunset paddle, or a full day trek rent a canoe at a flexible rate. Canoe Rentals include one of our aluminum canoes which fits two adults (and perhaps a kid or two), paddles, and lifejackets if needed. If you’re looking to cover more water, we also have Boat Rentals, perfect for a day of fishing on Highwind Lake.  We rent fully equipped boats which include fuel (priced on usage) and lifejackets.  Fishing rods and tackle are not included.  Please be aware that boat rentals require a valid Pleasure Craft Operators Card. Don’t have one? Plan ahead and take the course online.

Highwind Lake is a large lake with deep waters and offers many safe recreational opportunities. Talk to one of the camp staff to hear about some of the cool places to check out on the lake, where and when fishing might be great, and where underwater obstacles may be lurking! We know where they are and have, at times, found them the hard way so you don’t have to! Pick up a map of the lake at the camp store.

For those looking to paddle through or paddle from Highwind Lake, we are in the centre of a number of popular canoe routes with portages to Ethelma Lake on the west end, Porcus Lake on the east end and to Hillock Lake to the south end.
