Project Description
Fun in the Sun
Highwind Lake Camp offers swimmers and beach-goers an excellent retreat with nearly 1,000 ft of sandy beach off the main camp and a number of other beaches around the area ready to explore. The main beach faces east and awakens campers to a beautiful sunrise and displays stunning sunsets which illuminate the eastward cliffs! The main beach offers a gradual slope into crystal clear blue water. Relax on the beach and catch some sun, go for a swim to cool off, jump off the floating raft, or grab your goggles and snorkel and see a new perspective. The family is sure to have endless fun in the sun!
Highwind Lake also offers a few smaller beaches along its eastern shores. These beaches connect to beautiful rich Cedar groves and mature stands of Red and Jack Pine. Take a boat ride across the lake and explore these beaches and the areas surrounding them!
Interested in some more adventure? Hit the trail and head over the hill from the main site to Ethelma Lake for a different beach experience. Ethelma lake offers sandy beach shores with intermixed large rocks. Facing west, Ethelma lake is an excellent location for a sunset swim or a family picnic. While you are there check out “The Portage” which runs between Ethemla Lake and Highwind Lake.
Swimming isn’t the only fun in the sun around Highwind Lake Camp! Face your fears and feel the excitement of cliff jumping. From the small to the tall “The Cliffs” offer the brave a real thrill. Hike along the “Cliff Trail” (under construction) or boat over. Maybe cliff jumping isn’t your idea of fun? Check out “Cave Island” for a different kind of adventure. If you are lucky you may find yourself a delicious snack of wild blueberries.
Highwind Lake and the surrounding area offers excellent snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities. Crystal clear and deep waters offer many various challenges for beginner to elite scuba divers and snorkelers. Bring out your gear and explore what the Heart of Trout Country has to offer.
